Viktor Mints was born on November 20, 1935 in Kharkov, Ukraine to Pavel Mints and Olga Brandt. At the age of 85, Viktor passed away peacefully on February 23, 2021 at his home with his wife, Sheila, and son, Daniel, by his side. \n\n\tHe was 5 years old when the Nazis invaded Kharkov. With his mother and sister, he miraculously escaped and survived World War II. After completing high school, he was initially not accepted into university because of his Jewish background. He again showed the determination that helped him survive the war and kept applying until he was finally accepted into the evening program of the university in Odessa, Ukraine. He attended the program for 6 years, never missing a class, until he obtained a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering.\n\n\tHe loved mountain climbing, camping and being outdoors. His hobbies included archaeology, ancient coin and stamp collecting. He had a wickedly dry sense of humor and had impeccable timing with a joke or a zinger. He was a loving and kind man who was devoted to his family. \n\n\tViktor is survived by Sheila, his loving wife of 37 years, his son Daniel, his daughter-in-law, Jennifer DaCunha; his brother Leonid; his sister Anna Marchuk; and his nephews Pavel and Alex Mints, and Alex Marchuk. His family will miss him every day. \n\n\tFuneral services and burial are scheduled for Sunday, February 28, 2021 at 11:00AM, at Crescent Memorial Park, Pennsauken, NJ.
