Samuel (Sam)J. Podietz passed away on Thursday January 25th. Sam lived in Lumberton NJ since 1972. He and his late wife Sharon who passed away June 24, 2022 resided in Hollybrook where they raised their two children Drew and Teena. Sam worked in retail for many years but later changed careers and became Burlington County Veterans Officer. Sam started his political career in Lumberton Township where he held many positions from Planning Board member to the Mayor of the town multiple times. He served on his local school boards for many years even on the NJ State Board of Education. He was also the President of his synagogue and was active member there as well as his later temple at the Medford Chabad. Sam really enjoyed helping Veterans of all backgrounds and even after he retired. His was happiest helping Veterans and their families to get their services from the Military. He volunteered at many organizations and also worked with the past Senator Allen.
One the most enjoyable aspects of Sam’s life was his family, his late wife Sharon, son Drew, daughter Teena, son-in-law Joe and his two grandchildren Brandon and Elana.
He enjoyed attending his Saturday synagogue services and only stopped going a few months before his passing.
Sam was an amazing person, husband, father, grandfather and friend. Sam will be greatly missed through all aspects of his life. He has left an everlasting effect on everyone he met.
