We regret to announce the passing of Larry Scott Rogers of Evesham, NJ. Larry passed peacefully, surrounded by loved ones on January 16, 2025. Larry was born in Boston, MA in 1945, and his family moved to Cherry Hill, NJ to trade the bustling city life for the comfort of suburbia. Larry grew up in Cherry Hill, graduating from Cherry Hill High School. He continued his education at the University of Pennsylvania, eventually earning a degree from the prestigious Wharton School of Business.
Larry did not achieve all these successes alone. He was fortunate, early, to meet his first wife, and true love, Joanne (nee Dawson). He settled his young family, wife, Joanne, and son Coleby, into a fine life in Pennsylvania. They would eventually move to Cherry Hill, New Jersey so Larry could pursue other business opportunities.
Larry successfully combined his business acumen and art of the deal into several small business ventures while also pursuing a career as a professional gambler. With a zest for life, Larry always sought "the best for the Best!". He enjoyed a good drink and found immense joy in smoking his finely curated cigar collection. Known for his reliability in demanding situations, Larry was a loving father, "Grandfaddah", brother, and friend. Family and friends will deeply miss him.
Larry leaves behind his devoted son, D. Coleby Rogers, Esq.; daughter-in-law, Tanitra Rogers (nee Orr); and his three wonderful grandchildren, Kolbi Rogers, Asher Rogers, and Xia Rogers. He is also survived by his two sisters, Janet Soder (nee Rogers) and brother-in-law Kevin Soder; and Sheryl Young (nee Rogers) and brother-in-law Marc Young. Larry was predeceased by his parents, Bertram and Ina (nee Goldstein) Rogers and his first wife, Joanne (nee Dawson). Larry will be most dearly missed by his long-time partner, Rosalie Sonenberg, and a host of family and friends.
Having faced and survived a rare form of lymphoma and a heart attack during his lifetime, Larry emerged from these tragedies not beaten and bitter, but with a renewed vigor and verve for life. Larry loved life! He fought bravely to the very end. The family will be celebrating Larry’s life and laughter on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at Season’s 52 restaurant in Cherry Hill, NJ from 2 pm until 5 pm. Friends and relatives are invited to join us to raise a glass in his memory!
