Joyce Segal

Joyce Segal, of Mt. Laurel, NJ died May 17, 2026 at her residence. She was 89 years old.

She was the mother of Jill (Jeff Urofsky) Segal, Steven Segal, and the late Jeffery Segal. She is also survived by her granddaughter Jessica Urofsky. Joyce was married to Lenny Segal for many years. They raised their three children together and enjoyed a happy family life before amicably divorcing when their children were in their thirties.

Joyce was a sort of everyday iconoclast. She did not follow trends. She did not love rules. She had a particular sense of humor that some people did just not get. She loved to tell a dirty joke, mostly of the Yiddishkeit variety. She loved music, especially Jazz music, Billie Holiday and Sarah Vaughn were her favorites. When her peers were listening only to rock and roll, she was not. She had her own eye for design and her homes reflected that. She loved to dance, especially the cha cha. At any affair with music, she could always be found front and center on the dance floor. She loved to sing and participated in open mike evenings quite a few times. She loved to travel and made herself a career as a travel agent. She loved to sunbathe and in her younger days was known to sit outside in March with her winter coat, 3-part fold out silver sun reflector and alien sunglasses to get a start on her summertime tan. She was fastidious about her home and all who entered immediately heard her say/yell “wipe your feet.” Oh, yes, the mold was broken with Joyce. She will be missed forever.

Relatives and friends are invited Thursday, May 21, 2026 beginning 2:30pm to Platt Memorial Chapels, Inc., 2001 Berlin Road, Cherry Hill, NJ where funeral services will begin promptly at 3:00 pm. Family and friends are invited to visit from Friday, May 22nd through Monday, May 25th, each day from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
