Jean Kerner

Gloria Jean Kerner (nee Davis) of Voorhees, NJ passed away on July 14, 2026 with her loved ones at her side.

Jeanne was born in Columbus, Ohio where she attended Pleasant View High School. She was Head Majorette and dazzled with a fire baton.

Jeanne became a registered nurse in 1966. While working at Doctor's Hospital she met and captivated a young intern, Sheldon Kerner. They were married in 1971 and have been dedicated to each other since then.

They moved to Cherry Hill, NJ and had 2 daughters. Jeanne became a second mother to many of the neighborhood kids. She always had an extra plate at the table for friends and a warm welcome to anyone who came through the door.

Jeanne knew how to make a house a home and if she didn't know, she taught herself. She was DIY before Home Depot could help. She made the shore house on LBI into a relaxing retreat to eat fish, corn and salad and roast marshmallows. She liked staring up at the night sky waiting for shooting stars and watching the swallows line up on phone wires in September.

She also received joy during her many years in service with her Kingdom Hall, especially when she could drive the carpool.

Jeanne was openhearted and nurturing. She cared and comforted for many friends and family members. When she developed Alzheimer's Dementia, she continued to laugh and sing and dance with family and friends. She loved the live music, the kind staff and good meals at Brightview in Mt. Laurel.

Jeanne is survived by her husband of 55 years, Sheldon Kerner, her daughters Rachel Kerner (Jeffrey Cawthorne) of Falmouth, Maine and Alexis Kerner (Pepe Nieto) of Seville, Spain, her grandsons Theodore and Isaac Kerner, and her foster siblings.

She is predeceased by her biological parents, Pearl and Lucille (Conant) Davis, her loving Aunt Ginny and Uncle Dick Sutton, her brother James "Ed" Davis, and sisters Elizabeth "Liz" Norris and Catherine Clark.

Relatives and friends are invited Friday, July 17, 2026 beginning 9:15 am to Platt Memorial Chapels, Inc, 2001 Berlin Road, Cherry Hill, NJ where funeral services will begin promptly at 10:00 am. The service will also be live streamed on www.plattmemorial.com Burial will follow at Montefiore Cemetery in Jenkintown, PA.

Shiva will be observed Friday following the burial from 2:00-5:00 pm at the late residence.
Shiva minyan will be Sunday through Tuesday evenings at 7:30 pm at the late residence.
