Cherry Hill, New Jersey
Elaine Moskowitz (née Altman), 88, passed away on February 6, 2025, in Mt. Laurel, New Jersey.
Born on July 13, 1936, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Elaine was the beloved wife of the late Leonard Moskowitz who she met at age 16, married at 19, and was married to for 57 years. Together they raised 2 children and had a special life together. These past 10 years she was also the cherished companion of David Malamut.
She is survived by her son, Dr. Lanny Moskowitz and his wife Barbara, and her daughter, Rene Marinich and her partner Stephen Harris. Elaine was a devoted grandmother to Ian and his wife Julie, Eric, Rory, Sara and her wife Cass. She also took great joy in her role as a great-grandmother to Adam, the son of Ian and Julie. Additionally, she is survived by her brother Lewis and her niece Julie. Elaine was predeceased by her parents, Harry and Rose Altman.
Elaine was known for her kindness and generosity toward family and friends. When her children were young, she was an active presence in their lives—serving as a room mother in their classrooms and playing an integral role in their Hebrew education. Her home was always open to teenagers who found comfort in spending time there and talking with her. Elaine took great pleasure in hosting annual family vacations at Ocean City, NJ and building sandcastles first with her children and later her grandchildren.
As the family matriarch, Elaine hosted Rosh Hashanah, Thanksgiving, and Passover dinners for many years, bringing loved ones together around the table with warmth and tradition. Even after retirement, she remained deeply involved in her synagogue community and dedicated herself to helping others by providing transportation for seniors who could no longer drive themselves.
A funeral service will be held on February 10, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Platt Memorial Chapel, located at 2001 Berlin Rd., Cherry Hill, NJ 08003.
