In accordance with his incredibly kind, and giving nature, Barry donated his body to science in order to help others.
Barry was the beloved husband of Gail R. Beran for 43 years, the beloved father of two beautiful, loving daughters, Chelsea B. Schmidt (Jacob) and Danielle B. Colasurdo (Mike), adored grandfather of Nathan and Eliana, and much looked- forwarded to future grandson due later this year.
Barry was also the beloved brother of Harvey ( Sue) and Randy, adored uncle and great uncle of several nieces and nephews, adored cousin of many, and most cherished friend and volunteer. He lived with his family in Camden, N.J., and they later moved to Cherry Hill, N.J. Barry graduated from Cherry Hill East and then earned a B. A in history from Boston University. He graduated from the University of Baltimore School of Law in Maryland, where he met his future wife studying in the law library.
Barry passed the New Jersey Bar Exam, married his wife, and they moved to New Jersey. She finished law school at Rutgers, Camden, while Barry worked for private law firms. After his wife passed the New Jersey Bar Exam and took a full-time position in public state employment, Barry set up his general practice law firm. His wife then worked for a major law firm leaving to start a family with Barry. She then worked for him a few hours per week, raising their two, loving beautiful daughters.
Barry made friends wherever he went. He loved working out at the JCC, politics, movies, rock concerts ( especially “ The Boss”), Broadway, The Flyers, The Sixers, Ocean City N.J., pizza, desserts, gardening, baking, Judaism, and Israel. He was also so funny. As one cousin recalled, he would always remember Barry imitating “Cookie Monster” at family gatherings. Barry loved his cat Andy, who was found on his doorstep. The owner said to keep Andy, who was not happy at home. Barry made sure Andy had the best of everything for 20 years. Barry even came home for lunch with Andy, so Andy would not be alone all day. Barry spread kindness, lightness, and love all around, including at a part-time job which was truly a “work family” That love embraces Barry’s family now. His bright light in this world will always be remembered.
